How to get Kylie Jenner lips without buying the damn Kylie Lip Kit

No matter how hard we try, we can’t seem to shake the Kardashian/Jenner clan from our lives.  The tabloids are quite obsessed with reporting on their every move, and honestly, I don’t blame them, especially with how they’re becoming more involved in the fashion and beauty industry. When it comes to the youngest sibling Kylie, who is constantly adding to her cosmetic line, I feel dizzy. At just 18 years old, Kylie Jenner has created her very popular Kylie Lip Kit and made herself known in the beauty world. For the surprisingly reasonable price of $29, you’ll receive a tube of liquid lipstick and a lip liner, with eight colors to choose from.

However, with the popularity of the creator herself and the obsession with the matte liquid lipstick trend, these kits are in high demand. I mean, Kylie broke Google. There was so much traffic on her website after restocking her kits that Google Analytics just simply stopped working and couldn’t figure out how to fix it. Props, babe. That’s impressive. Unfortunately, because of this high demand, it’s hard to get your hands on the kit. Here is how to achieve Kylie Jenner lips without buying the damn Kylie Lip Kit.

Dr. Lip Freak Buzzing Balm

This lip balm-like product gives you a “buzzing” feeling that works to plump your pout while also keeping it hydrated. The packaging is also very cute and says “let's make out” on it and that is something I support wholeheartedly. Lip Freak comes in three flavors: Bubble Trouble, Berry Sinister and Sin-O-Mint all for $4.95 a pop.

Soap and glory

This brand has a handful of lip plumpers; it just depends on how plump you want your lips! There is Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick ($6), Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss Gloss ($10) and Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL ($14). The two glosses have a bit of color to them; however the gloss stick will just leave a slight shine.

The Pump It Up Lip Plumper from NYX will give you the sullen look you are desperately trying to achieve. Out of the nine shades they have, four have some shimmer in them. This would definitely be a great alternative for my Bottle Bitches on a budget because it is only $5.50.

Matte Lips

I think a big part of the liquid lipstick obsession has to do with their claim to be transfer proof and have a long wear formula, which is supposed to prevent the hassle of continuously re-applying your lipstick throughout the day. Because of this recent fad, many brands have a liquid lipstick similar to that of Kylie’s.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick $20

This formula will not stir — definitely not for the person who likes to leave their lipstick print wherever they go. My personal favorite Everlasting Liquid Lipstick goes on creamy, dries matte and is available in 28 amazing colors.

Tarte Lip Paint $20

There are 15 creamy matte lip colors and 11 liners available at Tarte. The pencils are very pigmented in color and the lipstick has a light, mousey texture. The Tarte website even has a handy tool to help match the liner to the lip paint.

NYX Lip Lingerie $7

Again, for my bottle bitches on a budget, NYX is the way to go. This velvety lipstick goes on effortlessly and leaves you with a bold, neutral-toned lip. With 12 shades to choose from, you can create so many different looks without breaking the bank.

Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer $24

Why buy a brand new matte lipstick when you have the color you want in your favorite sheer formula? You don’t have to with Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer! This product was made to go on top of any cream lipstick you already have and turn it into a satin finish in one simple swipe. Amazing.

Pro tip: Always remember to exfoliate and moisturize your lips well before applying your lipstick. Matte formulas aren’t typically very hydrating, and a cracked lip with a bold color is not a good look on anyone.

Of course Kylie has had additional help to get her famous pout by getting lip augmentations, but the use of these products will help you get the look you’re craving without dishing out the dough or committing to the cosmetic procedure. Whether you’re a bitch on a budget or are willing to pay the extra money but don’t want to go through the hassle of fighting to get King Kylies lip kit, you too can look like royalty.

Thalia is a modern day Wednesday Addams: rarely smiling and dark clothes, but with great eyebrows, lipstick, and a love for One Direction. In her free time, she can be found inside avoiding the sun with a glass of Rosa Regale, probably either touching up her nose contour or adding more color to her hair to make herself resemble a peacock.
