Symptom 5: Irregular sleep habits, too much or too little.
"Okay, well the most frustrating thing about having depression - any degree of it, is that nothing necessarily has to trigger it. Sometimes it just hits me. Like one day I can be loving life and appreciating everything in my day and within the next couple of hours or the next day I'd rather be 6 feet into the ground. People will notice something wrong but when I say I'm depressed they'll ask why. Usually I respond with something sarcastic like 'ya know it's just my imbalance of brain chemicals.' It's extremely frustrating how unaware people are of the illness. So many people self diagnose when really it's just like a situational sadness. People don't realize the severity of it or that depression is a mental illness. It's not just sadness. It affects your mood, your motivation, it's harder to feel excited about things you'd normally get pumped about, there's a chronic fatigue - it makes doing really simple, routine things difficult." -Nadiya P.
