Advice from your mother
Some Bottle Bitches asked their mothers for one piece of advice to give young women. Here are their responses:
Christianna Silva's mom
"Always say no first. You can always change your mind but it's MUCH harder to go from yes to no than from no to yes. Also I really think advice is irrelevant. It is never as fitting to the person who needs it as it is to the person giving it."
"My first piece of advice is to find your true passion in your career. Since you will most likely be doing this for awhile, make sure that you are doing something that you look forward to every day, and that you can look forward to doing this, even when Monday morning rolls around. There are going to be many 'Monday Mornings' and it's a wonderful feeling when you can be excited about beginning the week doing what you truly enjoy and are passionate about.
My second piece of advice is to make time to take care of yourself and do something you enjoy as much as possible. This applies to all aspects of your life. Life can be stressful, but find something you enjoy doing, and make sure you are adding it to your life.
Another piece of advice is to never be afraid to ask for something. If it is something that is important to you, do not be afraid to ask. If you do not ask, the answer will always be no. If you ask, you might just get the answer you want.
My last piece of advice is from my amazing and loving Grandma Lucille. Grandma Lucille was the most beautiful person I knew...inside and out. She said to find joy in all aspects of life, even the mundane. One of her most practical pieces of advice, was to use moisturizer morning and night, on your face and neck. She never had the money for any fancy face creams, always stuck to the basics, and was always beautiful."
Jenny Aranda's mom
"Be your own best friend...and always listen to your mom!"
Katelyn Kennon's mom
"Be willing to learn to love yourself. Stand up for yourself and stand up for what you believe in. You have everything that you need within your heart and that makes you great."
Megan Rudy's (theater) mom
Meghan Fernandez's mom
"Always stay true to yourself. Remember, what others think of you is none of your business. And finally, let your light shine!"
Meghan Witteman's mom
"Don't get married before you're 30."
